Portfolio Plus is not Directly Affected by Bash Vulnerability

Toronto, ON, Canada: September 25, 2014 — A security vulnerability in the Bourne Again Shell (Bash), the command-line shell used in many Linux-based and Unix-based operating systems, could leave systems running those operating systems open to exploitation by specially crafted attacks.

For more information see the US-CERT website:

"SIT's Portfolio Plus software application does not directly rely on Bash for any financial operations or transactions," said Patrick Lannigan, VP Marketing. "Although Portfolio Plus is not directly affected by this Bash vulnerability, we encourage all customers who are using Unix-based and Linux-based systems to obtain the latest software updates from their operating system suppliers."

All SIT publicly accessible servers, and those of our hosted clients, have been patched where required, while our internal servers are being updated on a priority basis.

SIT encourages clients to review their own IT infrastructures or any third-party applications that may use Bash. Please remember that many firewalls also use Bash in their implementations.

Please contact your supplier of any third party systems that utilize Bash to obtain a software update.

If there are any questions regarding the operation of Portfolio Plus please contact customersupport@stratinfotech.com.
